Our Partnership

Ukraine Christian Partnership has been working in Ukraine for over 19 years – linking up with local villages in the South West tip of the country.

In this time we have built up extensive contacts in the region and have run an annual “Summer Mission” with approximately 60-70 participants from the UK, Hungary, Ukraine and elsewhere aiming to support the villages with a medical mission, school and youth projects and a community mission and a smaller winter mission.

Since the recent conflict

More recently the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces and the ensuing refugee crisis has enabled us to use our existing links to provide immediate targeted support to both refugees fleeing war-torn parts of the country and to others suffering extreme hardship. As of 3rd May 2022 there were 928 displaced refugees registered in the local mayoral district. Although no direct bombing – there have been air-raids to nearby cities targeted at infrastructure so electricity and petrol shortages are the norm,

We now provide targeted monthly support to the refugee centres that the mayor has set up locally and additional support for those in the villages we serve where there is significant hardship due to the late/non-payment of pensions, rampant inflation, shortage of fuel and other food and non-food products.

We trust we can return to our normal work as soon as possible when it is safe for us to do so but in the meantime will try to support as best we can.
